Piñera paved the way for a modern and democratic right in Chile, says Boric at his funeral – El Sol de México

The Chilean president, Gabriel Boricdefined this Friday the former president Sebastian Piñera during his state funeral as a leader who “paved the way for a modern and democratic right” and assured that the former president who died in a helicopter accident “never shied away from providing advice, despite the public differences we have had in the past.”

“Once the mass is over, The remains will be transferred to the Parque del memoria Cemeterybut not before passing in front of La Moneda, where a tribute will be paid to him by the palace guard and the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric,” said the chancellor, in charge of organizing the funeral.

At 15:30 local time on Tuesday, the helicopter in which Piñera was travelingalong with three other people who managed to save themselves, crashed shortly after taking off onto Lago Ranco, a tourist resort located 800 kilometers south of Santiago, where he used to spend summers with his family.
